Virtual Careers Fair
This Welwyn Hatfield Virtual Careers Fair event brings students into contact with employers with the overall aim of:
- Helping young people gain meaningful encounters with employers.
- Teaching young people about a variety of local jobs and industries.
- Enabling teachers and school staff to interact and network with employers.
In October 2019 the Council in partnership with Roche hosted a Careers Fair for the 6 mainstream and 2 special Welwyn and Hatfield schools. Over 800 students attended and 30 employers exhibited. Due to the current climate, we are holding a Virtual Careers Fair for the students so they do not miss out on the value of linking in with local businesses.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council based in Welwyn Garden City employs over 500 staff, we are one of 10 district councils based in Hertfordshire. We are responsible for a range of vital services for people and businesses including: Rubbish collection, Recycling, Council Tax collections, Housing, Planning applications, Business support, Licensing and Pest Control.
As a local council we are made up of councillors who are elected by the public in local elections. Councillors work with local people and partners, such as local businesses and other organisations, to agree and deliver on local priorities. The decisions are implemented by permanent council staff, council officers, who deliver services on a daily basis.

Royal Veterinary College
The Royal Veterinary College is the largest and longest-established vet school in the English-speaking world and is a college of the University of London.

Hertfordshire and West Essex Health and Care Academy
The Academy is a collaboration of health and care organisations across Hertfordshire and west Essex, working together to develop a workforce that delivers the best possible care for our community.
Through the Academy, we want to attract young people into a career in health and care, support the development of existing staff, and create the next generation of leaders.

Fire Service
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue provides a 24 hour emergency response service for fires, road traffic collisions and other serious incidents. We deliver a wide range of prevention and protection activities aimed at reducing fires and other incidents, including the enforcement of Fire Safety legislation. We currently employ around 800 operational staff, and 100 non-uniformed support staff based across the county at a number of locations including 29 fire stations, a training and development centre and our Service Headquarters in Hertford.

We are Lease of Life Home Care Ltd. We work in the community supporting people who are living with physical and or mental or emotional disability. We visit throughout the day morning, lunch, afternoon and evening. In some situations, we stay overnight. We support people with all their personal care, domestic duties and generally anything that supports them to live independently at home. Lease of Life Home Care is over 15 years old and is well established. We are not a franchise we are an independent family run business whose main aim is to keep families together and provide an excellent service.

Tewinbury Farm
Originally a dairy farm, Tewin Bury has been home to the Williams family, and a herd of 50 dairy cows, since 1931.
The land continues to be farmed and is still owned and worked by members of the Williams family. But many of the original buildings have been incorporated in what is now Tewin Bury Farm Hotel. A record of the remarkable heritage of Tewin Bury Farm and a visual history of its transformation can be clearly seen in the gallery of ‘now’ and ‘then’ photographs displayed on the walls of the Williams Bar & Restaurant.
It was 1980 when, looking at ways to diversify the business, the family sold the dairy herd to purchase some neighbouring farm land. A new Farm Shop was opened to sell their potatoes and other local produce and – as an experiment – four rooms in the family home were advertised as guest rooms available for visitors. The demand for rooms grew, more renovation work took place and Tewin Bury Farm Hotel was born.
As the number of guests increased the need for an on-site restaurant (rather than the farm kitchen) became obvious – and a decision was made to convert the old chicken shed into what is now the very active Williams Bar & Restaurant. This proved a huge success and provided the impetus for the family to restore and convert many of the other 17th century farm buildings into the high-specification facilities that exist today.
Tewin Bury Farm Hotel is now a popular and thriving independent hotel with 4 AA stars and an excellent reputation as a venue for weddings, ceremonies, family celebrations, conferences and meetings. But the working farm remains and the Williams brothers can often be seen managing the grounds, or driving their tractor across the yard!
